The Office of the Governor of the West Region hosted, on Monday, 27 April 2026, a decisive strategic consultation shaping the future of our populations. Alongside the Secretary General and the Head of the Division for Economic, Social and Cultural Affairs, the Regional Delegates of MINEPAT, MINDHU, MINADER and MINEPIA took part in this detailed review of the 4th General Population and Housing Census (PHC) and the General Census of Agriculture and Livestock (GCAL).
The technical presentation by Mr. Kana Christophe, Regional Technical Supervisor, first confirmed the mobilization of 3,600 elite census enumerators, selected for their competence and mastery of digital tools. Subsequently, UNFPA experts, Mr. Mbea Mbea and Mr. Stephen Noubissie, demonstrated the effectiveness of digital mapping and highlighted the usefulness of the toll‑free hotline as instruments of transparency and proximity to the population.
Closing the discussions, the Governor issued highly significant recommendations aimed at ensuring the stability of the operation. Observing that communication efforts remain timid, he ordered an immediate media offensive, stressing that public participation is the primary guarantee of success. The regional authority went further by placing particular emphasis on human and logistical management.
The Governor firmly instructed financial and technical officials to strictly ensure the regular and timely payment of allowances to census enumerators.
For the region’s top official, it is imperative to anticipate any risk of demobilization or strike by guaranteeing these young agents decent working conditions.
On the security front, he reassured all stakeholders that stringent security measures are already in place under his authority to supervise field deployment. By demanding this alliance between technical expertise, security and social justice, the Governor reaffirms his determination to make the West Region a model of a successful census, laying the foundation for precisely planned regional development.
